What a thoughtful book! It gave such a sweet perspective on grief and loss. Having a twin is such a special bond, so it seems appropriate that relationship would end differently than other bonds.
Watching her twin brother die had an understandably huge impact on Lily. But she thinks she is dealing with that loss better than everyone else because she still has time with her brother in their special overlap.
Having a new friend, Quinn, enter her life starts to change everything. You can see Lily finding her life again for a moment. Then she realizes the overlap and time with her brother is shrinking away. She begins to hyperfocus on not losing her brother again.
As a reader I was drawn in and anxious to see how she would handle this new change. Would she be able to find a way to move forward?
I would recommend this book to 4th graders and higher. It had some big concepts, but was written with young readers in mind. Those that have lost a special person in their life may find hope through this book.
