The illustrations drew me to this book. Every page is incredible and so believable. I loved how the pond impacted the village and the people, and how the fastest runner in the village saved lives. I didn’t know this was based on a true story. When I found out, I liked the story even more. Life goes on even though things change. We find a way to live with that change and it turns out great.
