Written by Corey Ann Haydu
This book tells the story of Apple and Dorothy, who are modern descendants of the Greek gods. One Winter Solstice Dorothy’s mother refuses to climb the ladder to Olympus to eat the apple of immortality, and then unexpectedly dies a month later. The story switches between their two perspectives to tell how that event changes the community and the girls. It explores what it means to be your own person while managing the expectations of parents, friends, and even the gods.
