I really enjoyed reading this book, and the illustrations make it accessible to a much wider audience. If you have ever learned anything about megafauna from ages past and want to know more, this book is for you. I have a few kids who love all books about dinosaurs and this was picked up quickly by them. Besides the well-known Woolly Mammoth and Saber-Toothed Cat, there are 16 other megafauna (giant animals) described in a lot of detail. The art is great and there are several levels of interest satisfied by the writing to describe how, where, and when they lived. I was fascinated and I think kids who like dinosaurs and animals in general will enjoy this book.
