Speck

An Itty-Bitty Epic

Written and Illustrated by Margaux Meganck

This was a delightful and surprising picture book. It’s about a speck in the sea that drifts past things that could eat it, past beautiful ocean scenes and animals, and on to the dark vast ocean where “big feels bigger and small feels smaller.” I actually didn’t know what the animal speck was until the end, and I was pleasantly surprised! It’s about how sometimes we all feel like specks in the big world, but we can all experience wonder and find what we’re looking for. You’ll have to read it to find out what the speck is! The pictures are rendered in beautiful colored pencil and watercolor.
