Having not read the first two books in the series, I don’t feel like I have a complete understanding of the storyline, what mapmakers are, and the nuances of the magics and characters, but I got the gist of it. Strong themes: friendship, value of working together, good vs. evil, corruption of power, hope, perspectives and how receiving new information can change one’s perspective.
