The Midnight Dress is one of those perfect mysteries that unfolds slowly and builds to a shocking conclusion. I liked it very much. I liked the characters, Rose and Pearl and the wonderfully crazy Edie. The dress becomes a character itself, taking on a life of its own. The time shift, shown in italics which really helps the reader keep track of past and present, makes it very interesting and creates some speculation on the reader’s part. I liked it very much and think it would be suitable for younger teens as well as high school.
