Okay, if there were a truth about zombies this would be a great book. I might be the only person left who doesn’t care when the zombie apocalypses is going to occur, but I think there may be a few others who don’t believe in zombies yet. That being said, the rest of the book is great. It is fun to read, has great graphics and familiar characters. I love Scooby-Doo.
There are 5 other “Truth Behind (something)” in this series. The other books deal with ghosts, mummies, sea monsters, vampires and werewolves. If all the other books treat the topics as if these things are real, then it would make sense to continue that format in this book. But I haven’t read those books. So, obviously I would have preferred the writer to mention that zombies aren’t real. But they didn’t.
Kids will love reading this book. It describes voodoo zombies from other legendary zombies. It goes through the similarities and differences. It was nice they explained why Frankenstein isn’t a zombie. Having a non-example can often help children understand the examples.
At the beginning Daphne says that Scooby and Shaggy have nothing to fear when it comes to zombies. But at the end of the book they are hiding in the couch from Fred pretending to be a zombie. So learning about zombies didn’t help Shaggy and Scooby-Doo be less scared of zombies.
Other than the title containing the word “truth,” and the fact that Velma didn’t bring up that zombies aren’t real, it’s a great book.
