Set in 2094. A few generations ago, there was a biological weapon that decimated Europe with a virus. The United States closed its borders and the ship, Arcadia, and its passengers were left stranded on the ship. Born on the cruise ship, twins Esther and May have dealt with harsh conditions and social extremes. There are only two ways ship inhabitants may earn their way off the ship: as a medic or as a soldier. Esther is training to be a medic, so her and her boyfriend can leave. Hadley is training to become a soldier. Things take an interesting turn. Nik, a rebel, is injured during an incident. The rebellion kidnaps Esther to help him. As she gets to know him, she learns he’s trying to save the ship, Arcadia and its inhabitants. Meanwhile, Hadley, the federation security commander, will stop at nothing to end the rebellion. Can Esther, May and Nik find a way to save Arcadia forever?

Told through multiple points of view, the plot is well-developed, action packed, and full of plot twists. Characters are easy to distinguish. Readers who enjoy science fiction, adventure, and good versus evil novels will want to pick this one up. Recommended for most middle school and high school libraries. 5 stars, Grades 6 to 12.
