I enjoyed this sequel very much. It definitely continues being rich with Latin American heritage, from the Spanish language to the traditions and folklore of this culture. I enjoyed having two brown girls as their own heroines in the story. I think having the chapters alternate between Cece and Juana created interest (and sometimes confusion with the amount of details), but overall was still interesting. I like the themes of family, but especially the deeper meaning of being able to change from who we once were to become who we potentially are meant to be. There was always an adventure to be had, and I think both those with a hispanic background and without one can enjoy this book very much.
