Not only does this book teach about Major Taylor–a black man who competed with the best in cycling even at a time where those who looked like him were not treated kindly–but it also teaches about hard work, perseverance, and what to do when you fail. Major Taylor joined a bike race that lasted 6 days. It was so hard on each of the bikers, including Major Taylor. While he did not win the race, he was able to keep going and become one of the best cyclists in the world. Fantastic story with riveting pictures!
