Betty and the Mysterious Visitor

Written by Annie Twist, Illustrated by Emily Sutton

I picked this book because of the illustrations. They are fun, alive, and bright, and each page has a lot of activity going on. Betty’s favorite place is her grandmother’s garden and she can’t wait to go visit her. It has a swing and flowers and lots of grass, making it the perfect spot. Grandma and Betty also make jam together and sell it at the market. One morning Betty wakes up to find the garden a mess. Will she be able to save Grandma’s garden? I think it would be a great book to read to students. It is a little longer, but a sweet story. It brought back memories of going to my grandma’s house.
