Carrimebac

The Town That Walked

Written by David Barclay Moore, Illustrated by John Holyfield

“Carrimebac” is a fun play-on-words title for this African American folklore. Prerequisite: practice southern charm accent before attempting to read. This book is storytelling at its best. It features ole’ Rootilla and her grandson, Julius, as they use their wit and magic to bring life to the town of Walkerton.

John Holyfield’s acrylic illustrations are the perfect companion, extending the tale and adding visual treats. The large size provides plenty of page space, and both author and illustrator use it with great skill and effect.
