The Greatest Song of All

How Isaac Stern United the World to Save Carnegie Hall

Written by Megan Hoyt, Illustrated by Katie Hickey

The famous Carnegie Hall opened on May 5, 1891. The opening night guest was a Russian composer named Pytor Tchaikovsky. After that there were several other amazing people who performed there. Marian Anderson, Duke Ellington, and Albert Einstein, to name a few. While they were performing, there was a Jewish 9 yr. old boy, practicing his heart out in San Francisco. His dream was to perform in the famous Carnegie Hall. His name was Isaac Stern. Years passed and Isaac was performing over 50 times in Carnegie Hall. A powerful city planner , Robert Moses, wanted to demolish Carnegie Hall. Isaac was very upset about this. He did what he could to save Carnegie Hall. They had a protest to save Carnegie Hall. This book has very nice illustrations. Great for students who like music or history.
