Written by A.R. Capetta, Illustrated by Charlene Chua
Hocus and Pocus are the oldest and youngest of a slightly magical litter of puppies that a young witch finds and turns in to the local rescue. They are adorable puppies, it seems likely that they will be adopted quickly, but the two don’t want to be adopted separately. They come up with a plan to use their wiles to dissuade people from adopting only one of them, as well as using their magical powers. Can these mischievous canines use the “spell for home” to find their own forever family?
The colorful and adorable illustrations will lure many young readers to check this book out. The book seems a bit wordy to be considered an early chapter book. It will most likely be enjoyed by my second, third, and even a few fourth-grade students. This is the first in a series, with the second coming in 2025.
