This is Book 4 in the Secrets and Spies series. Though I have not read the first 3 books, I was able to follow the story and plot. Beth is a young woman in 1660 London. She is asked by a man called Strange to be a spy for the king. In the previous book, she and her friends, John and Ralph, stop a plot by to kill the king. Vale, the villain and a vicious man, is still at large. In this book, the three spies must discover what Vale is smuggling to America. In order to stay close to him, Strange arranges for Beth, John, and Ralph to start a spy ring and new lives in America. Beth is nearly killed; John is imprisoned, and Ralph must fight an assassin. This is a great book for those who enjoy adventure. Plus, you can learn a bit of history as well. What’s not to like?
