Blips on a Screen: How Ralph Baer Invented TV Video Gaming and Launched a Worldwide Obsession

Written by Kate Hannigan, Illustrated by Zachariah OHora

This is the story of the man who built the first television video game. It was an interesting story of someone who, with creativity and ingenuity, decided to branch out and create something that changed the world. I love that this book added some older vocabulary–including “a patent” and “prototype”–but also gave the definitions for them as well. It really impressed me! While the story is not all that riveting, it would be a cool one to have for any video game aficionado we have in our schools.
