What a great book. I would have never known all of this was happening to young men like this Iran and Iraq. Unlike his best friend Ebi, Reza does not like to fight. They are 12 years old boys. Reza’s mother wants him to go fight in the Iran/Iraq war (1982). She told him that she would be proud for him if he was to die in the war. His father has already been killed in this war. After his uncle dies, he decides to join up with his Ebi. The military just uses the boys to set of the land mines so the older soldiers can go in. Reza ends up in a hospital for a few months and then is taken to a prisoner of war camp. He wonders what has happened to his friend Ebi. Music and his new friends are the things that help him out in his time of trouble. The guards are not very nice to the boys and if you get on their bad side it is even worse. I hope you find this book as interesting as I did.
